Pine Trees

Watercolor, ink, handmade paper, tissue paper, hand stitching | 11” X 14”

This piece represents that feeling of sanctuary, being sheltered and held underneath the layers of canopy within a forest. The layers that seem to go on infinitely. When I enter sacred spaces, like this, it opens a door into another reality, another universe apart from the everyday hustle and bustle. A reminder of what life is here in the stillness, the waiting, the watching, the seeing, the slowing. A reminder of this connection I share with the natural world in my own biology.

I created this piece by overlaying tissue paper on top of drawings while collaging paper on top of line drawings to create forest layers.
